
Disabled Veterans Exemption
The 100% Disabled Veterans Exemption provides for full exemption of the Fair Cash Value (Market) of homestead property.

• In order to qualify for this Exemption, the individual must be:
Head of household
Honorably discharged from active service in a branch of the Armed Forces of the United States or Oklahoma National Guard
Certified by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs to have one hundred percent (100%) permanent disability sustained through military action or accident or resulting from a disease contracted while in active service
As of January 1, owns the property that has a Homestead Exemption in place or is eligible for a Homestead Exemption on the property
The surviving spouse of a veteran who met the qualifications listed in 2 and 3 above and who, as of Jan. 1 owns the property that has a Homestead Exemption in place or is eligible for a Homestead Exemption on the property shall be entitled to claim this exemption with the proper certification from the United States Department of Veteran Affairs. Also, the unremarried spouse of a veteran killed in action may qualify for the exemption.

*You must bring a Property Tax letter with a raised seal from the Department of Veterans Affairs certifying that you are a 100% disabled veteran to qualify for this Exemption.

Once granted, this exemption is permanent as long as qualifications are met. However, if you move to a new home, you must provide a new Property tax letter portraying your new address when you file a new application.
